You Don't Need a New Costume. You Need a Better One

A Blue Dress, an Old Apron, and a Little Ribbon
This Halloween, I went to my closet rather than buying a new costume.
A bright blue dress I already owned. An old white apron from a hook off the kitchen
The only thing missing was a signature blue headband. A quick trip to Michael’s later, and suddenly: Alice in Wonderland.
Just the right pieces, put together with intent, and a little something new that made the whole thing really work.
Why it matters: That's exactly how the best growth work happens. Most organizations don't need to start over. They need to see what they already have, and make it better.
The pieces are usually already there
In 15 years of supporting "good people doing good work," I've don’t think I’ve ever walked into an organization with nothing to work with.
They have past performance. Smart, credentialed experts. Examples of past white papers and bids (even if not an easily searchable and AI-ready BD library). Relationships with the customer (ok, sometimes just one person at the customer, but we can work with that!). A process, even if it lives in someone's head.
What's missing is usually the ribbon: the structure, the polish, the outside eye that turns a closet full of parts into something that wins.
Where we add the ribbon
Across our service lines, the job looks a lot like that costume:
Process assessment. We look at your full BD lifecycle, from pipeline to proposal to post-award, and find what's working, what's leaking, and what small fixes pay off fastest.
Capture. You know the customer. We help you expand your relationships and turn knowledge into a win strategy, a teaming plan, and a solution story that evaluators can follow.
Orals. Your experts know the work cold. We – with our friends at Hurley Group Consulting - help them show it: tighter messages, sharper answers, and the confidence that comes from real rehearsals.
Marketing pushes. You have the expertise and the proof points. We shape them into a pursuit or agency-specific communication plan that reaches the right decision makers (and their influencers) at the right time.
Any pursuit. Whether it's a must-win recompete or entering a new market, we step in where you need us and strengthen what's already in motion.
That's our specialty at Hollywood & Associates
Drawing on our decades right-sizing and transforming BD shops and revenue engines, Hollywood & Associates helps you look at your growth engine as a whole, take stock of what you've built, and decide what comes next. Not necessarily a rebuild. A better version of what you already are.
The bottom line
Alice didn't need a new wardrobe to go on her adventures. Neither do you.
If you're heading into a big pursuit, a new market, or just a season of "there has to be a better way," let's talk about what's already in your closet, and where a little ribbon could make all the difference. Let's talk →
